VolWeb.ca is a volunteer recruitment website that matches volunteers to event-based volunteer opportunities throughout British Columbia. He/she will be responsible for supporting the ongoing promotion of VolWeb to new users (volunteers and event organizers) and helping manage the website. The position is also required to respond to general program inquiries from various stakeholders, as well as provide assistance and support to the VolWeb.ca team in all other activities and programs.
Practicum Length/Details
• This practicum will begin as soon as possible and run until the end of August
• The position will mainly be Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, but some flexibility may be required
Duties
Volweb.ca
• Assist in all marketing, promotion and communication activities for VolWeb.ca
• Working with Volweb.ca team providing technical program writing
• Research new opportunities for VolWeb promotion (events, websites, etc.)
• Conducting on-line research, analyzing data and compiling results
• Coordinating community events, including creation of related promotional material
• Assists with writing and editing new content for the website and monthly e-newsletter
• Assists with administrative duties for the Volunteers department
Marketing
• Develop and maintain a strong personal understanding of the organization and its strategies, products, business objectives and business performance in order to effectively support the development of the communication and marketing planning process and its execution
• Assist with the promotion and marketing of various 2010 Legacies Now programs
• Assist with preparing sales presentations, market research and event management for various 2010 Legacies Now programs
• Participate in the creative development, writing, proofreading and editing of various documents
• Assist with the development of display related materials
• Staff 2010 Legacies Now booth or exhibits at trade fairs when required
Qualifications
• Strong computer skills in MSOffice
• Experience with on-line research
• Writing experience – both technical and promotional articles
• A natural attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to deliver service son time in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment

Hospital Charity Bike Ride Needs Your Help! It will be a fun day!

The event date is Sunday, August 23, 2009- but we need to get volunteers signed up early so we can plan and delegate roles.
Since 1999, the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation has raised more than $14 million dollars to support the needs of Eagle Ridge Hospital. Each year, the foundation raises money to purchase approximately 70% of all new equipment and technologies for the hospital and manor which are not funded through the Fraser Health Authority. This year, the proceeds raised from the Wheel to Heal Ride will be used to buy a much needed operating room (OR) table. You can’t have an operation without one. Our OR tables are aging and need to be replaced and a new one costs $60,000!!
The 1st Annual Tri-Cities Wheel to Heal Ride is a fun bike ride challenge where participants choose their challenge -10 km. Trans Canada Trail, 40 km. PoCo Trail, or 80 km. Tri-Cities Climb Challenge – while making a personal commitment to Eagle Ridge Hospital. **We need over 100 volunteers to make this event a success**- so WE NEED YOU
to volunteer a few hours of your day to help with set-up, registration, bike check, course marshaling, water stations, food stations, and much more!
All volunteers will be given a letter thanking them for their time and commitment. Each volunteer also gets a FREE Wheel to Heal T-Shirt! Get your friends together for this great cause!

We Day is Free The Children's annual signature event. Taking place on
September 29 at Vancouver's GM Place, a series of one-day events across
Canada is a celebration of the Me to We philosophy of reaching out to help
others, while engaging youth to be the change as they support the
international development work of Free The Children. The largest event of
its kind, each We Day event celebrates the power of young people to change
the lives of others. Every year, the We Day events feature a series of
inspirational and motivational speeches by top leadership and social issues
activists, speakers and entertainers. But the action doesn't stop here.
Every person attending We Day has committed to take tangible actions for a
better world. They're part of a support network of students, educators and
facilitators that stretches from coast to coast. Students will take action
throughout 2009-2010 through Free The Children's campaigns to raise

Reporting to the Community Involvement Manager you will: introduce and
promote the Trick-or-Treat campaign to schools within a defined territory;
maximize revenues by growing participation rates and grow donations through
effective and appropriate contact and service.
As the Territory point-person, you will initiate campaign logistics and
manage participant relations from end to end to ensure high levels of
satisfaction and to secure timely receipt and deposit of raised funds. In
addition, you will be relied on to efficiently process documents, and, track
and report on program metrics for program development purposes. You will
also be called upon to provide administrative or implementation support for
the public campaign and support engagement of high schools in the Spread the
Net campaign against malaria.
As the ideal candidate you are a secondary school graduate with strong
sales/fundraising know-how; self-motivated, driven by the achievement of
meeting and exceeding revenue targets and service oriented with a natural
ability to strike and maintain fruitful relationships. You are a persuasive
communicator with solid time and task management abilities, while at ease
operating independently from a home-office environment. You are PC
proficient using Microsoft applications and Internet/Email. A valid driver's
license and a vehicle are required.

Kiosk Programme Manager – British Columbia (Vancouver & Victoria regions)

The manager will be responsible to maximize sales revenue of UNICEF cards and gifts in the specified region through sound management and implementation of the kiosk sales campaign including staffing each kiosk, coordinating logistical and operational requirements, inventory management, financial management and campaign reporting.
Reporting to the Director, Sales & Marketing and working in conjunction with the Regional Director and staff, you will work towards meeting kiosk campaign goals, building and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, working with kiosk coordinators to ensure smooth operation of financial transactions, and preparing a regional profitability analysis of all kiosk locations following the completion of the sales campaign. As a Kiosk Programme Manager you will coordinate all required logistics including set-up and closing of sales locations, inventory management and overall day-to-day activities. You will be the primary point of contact through the recruitment process of kiosk sales staff as well to collaborate with regional and national office to recruit and train volunteer resources as required.
As the ideal candidate you are a High-School Graduate with strong relationship, time and organization management abilities; you are an energetic, friendly, customer service oriented individual with effective communication skills, team player with proven sales results who possesses enthusiasm and, you have the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. You are exceptionally PC proficient using Microsoft applications including Word and Excel. Experience managing staff and volunteers is a desired advantage. A valid driver’s license and the use of a vehicle is a must.

Summary of Position:
Special Events Coordinators are responsible for managing and producing high quality Special Event Fundraisers, including program design, administration, implementation and evaluation. Events will be assigned by the Manager of Special Events.
Relationships:
INTERNAL
Daily interaction with Manager of Special Events, all Staff and Volunteers. Staffing and/or participation in internal committees as needed.

Responsibilities:
· Manages all aspects of assigned special event fundraisers including program design, planning and execution (content and logistics), sponsorship procurement, communications and programmatic evaluation.
· Engages and manages relationships with special event stakeholders (partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers, organizing committees, prospective supporters, Heart Fund recipients, etc.) specific to portfolio, by developing formal and informal communications as well as preparing for, attending and recording meetings as needed.
· Solicits businesses for sponsorships and auction prizes as needed.

· Books mascots/entertainers and picks up or delivers equipment/supplies as needed.
· Integrates volunteers in special event coordination where possible, and recognizes efforts accordingly.

· Maintains special events files and contacts within Raiser’s Edge, G drive, and hard copy records.
· Updates calendar of events for internal tracking, website and newsletter, and
· Upholds and promotes the mission and brand of Variety-The Children’s Charity.Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
· 2+ years of relevant experience; and

decades, Kids Help Phone has been at the forefront in providing help and
hope through its phone and web counselling services, earning the respect and

turn, when parents, schools and social services are unavailable, closed,
backlogged or simply not accessible for any reason, Kids Help Phone is
there. Young people know that when they reach out to Kids Help Phone, any
time of the day or night, they'll be connected with a professional
counsellor who can provide immediate, kid-friendly insight, help and
direction on a wide variety of issues relevant to youth.
Last year, Kids Help Phone counsellors connected with kids in almost 3,000
Canadian communities more than 2.2 million times. By continuing to reach out
to kids in meaningful and innovative ways, Kids Help Phone will remain a
trusted part of kids' lives for many years to come.
The Co-ordinator, Events & Administration enhances the effectiveness and
operating efficiency of the Kids Help Phone British Columbia Regional Office
and chapter volunteers by assisting with event coordination, implementing
recruitment and stewardship of fundraising volunteers and providing
administrative support that ensure Kids Help Phone fulfills its role of
"being there for kids."
Responsibilities:
* Primary accountability for spearheading recruitment efforts and
stewarding existing fundraising volunteers; providing event planning support
for the Walk for Kids Help Phone and the Boo-la-thon
* Work closely with recruitment, promotions & logistics volunteers to
ensure financial targets are met throughout the province
* Research, identify, and engage new organizations
* Work with identified Corporate Partners and regional staff to proactively
develop existing corporate and individual supporters and fund development
opportunities
* Provide support in recognition of Corporate Partners and all event
attendees
* Strategize, initiate and execute presentation opportunities
* Assist in planning, organizing and executing the fundraising initiatives
of the British Columbia Region

* Ensure all events and volunteer related information is documented and
kept up to date in Raiser's Edge
* Responsible for Fundraising Inventory Tracking insuring items for sale
are accounted for, and funds are collected in a timely manner
* Ensure adequate and current supply of all Kids Help Phone and office
supplies, utilizing Kids Help Phone's on-line ordering system
* Ensure Regional Office equipment is maintained, and office space is
maintained in an orderly fashion
* Provide technical support to the Regional Office including installation
of local software upgrades
* Liaise with national and regional staff to ensure accurate implementation
of national communication/innovation programs (Raiser's Edge, Document
Library, Stay-In-Touch, national employee communication plan,
etc.)Qualifications:
* Experience and/or an academic background in marketing, sales, fundraising
and/or communications is required
* Demonstrated commitment to volunteerism or volunteer sector is required
