Position: Manager, Event Sponsorship
Sport BC is the independent federation for amateur sport in British Columbia. On behalf of its 80+ members, including 64 Provincial Sport Organisations, the Society advocates for and provides service to organized amateur sport in the Province. The Society also manages the Provincial Government’s core grant funding to the sector and runs a variety of commercial and philanthropic business ventures to build sustainability into the amateur sports sector. In April 2008, the organization will move to its new Sport Campus BC location in Richmond BC, where new partnerships that enhance and promote the value of sport in key non-sporting paradigms including health, education and inclusion will be driven.
As a result of a recent growth-driven restructure, Sport BC is inviting applications for the newly-created position of Manager of Event Sponsorship. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Partnerships, this position is responsible for the sourcing, prospecting and harnessing of corporate sponsors to the portfolio of events run by Sport BC and its direct business units. The position will source and attract new business and corporations to engage in sponsorship opportunities in one or a number of Sport BC’s events. The position will also create new event sponsorship opportunities for sponsors and liaise strongly with the Manager of Event Services and the Director of Marketing & Communications in the fulfillment of agreed sponsorship value to clients.
Key Elements:
1. Design of event sponsorship opportunities, in conjunction with the Director of Corporate Partnerships
2. Prospecting of corporations (large and small) to engage in sponsorship opportunities across Sport BC’s various events
3. Presentation, negotiation and deal closure
4. Fulfillment of event sponsor benefits, in conjunction with the Event Management Department and Director of Marketing & Communications
5. Ongoing sponsor relationship management and development

- Monitoring of Sport BC’s media activity (and that of organized amateur sport in BC)
- Collaboration with other key industry players in building industry-wide communications policy in BC
- Development of the Sport BC brand and SBC’s sub-brands, where appropriate
Skills/Competencies Required
- Degree qualified in Marketing or a related discipline
- Experience in corporate marketing, with direct marketing experience preferred
- Experience in event marketing would be a distinct advantage
- Experience in online marketing, both email and web-based
- Experience working with the media
- Writing skills and the ability to identify media-recognized news
- Experience designing and implementing fully integrated marketing programs, ideally in the service sector

Key Elements:
- Overall responsibility for the raising of corporate sponsorship revenues as per assigned targets, both through corporate partnerships and event sponsorships
- Direct line management of the Manager of Event Sponsorship, including:
- overseeing of event sponsorship product development
- setting of event sponsorship budgets
- training and development
- performance management and accountability
- overall sponsor client management and development
- Design and creation of corporate partnership opportunities for Sport BC with the corporate sector

- Active prospecting and presenting of partnership opportunities to corporate prospects

- Corporate sponsor review, satisfaction analysis and issues management (where necessary)
Skills/Competencies:
- A proven ability to identify, prospect and secure corporate investment to sport / sport-related sponsorship products or similar type products
- An ability to design and build sponsorship products, based on a thorough understanding of business value and how sport can capture it
- Experience in consultative sales and the fundamental steps in a sales cycle
- A recognition of the differences and commonalities between long-term partnership acquisition and transactional event sponsorship sales

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
Position: Co-Run Directors for Cdn Breast Cancer Foundation
Description: There are two Co-Run Directors at each Run site. While each are expected to work together to ensure a successful outcome of the Run, they may very well bring different strengths and abilities to the task. The Co-Run Directors are local CBCF representatives for the community and provide the motivational and organizational leadership for the Run to their local committee. They work collaboratively with the regional offices of the Foundation to ensure that the systems, national procedures and standards for the Run are implemented and that the overall goals of the event are met.
The Co-Run Directors work with a volunteer Run Committee to oversee areas of responsibility such as, but not limited to: marketing, media, site, route, stewardship, volunteers, program, registration, teams, and sponsorship. In Vancouver, Co-Run Directors work closely with a staff coordinator to ensure that their respective roles are clearly defined.

An annual celebration of Celtic culture featuring music, dance, film, spoken word, a street market and the much-anticipated St. Patrick's Day Parade. Volunteers are required from March 1 to 18. Categories include: special event assistants, greeters, ticket takers, merchandise sales, office administration, runners, distribution and Parade Marshalls for the St. Patrick's Day Parade and more!

Skills and Experience: Merchandising, retail, stage productions, office/banking experience and misc. special event experience is desired.

North Shore SuperCities WALK for MS
Position: Organizing Committee
The Super Cities WALK for MS is a fun, family-oriented event in seven Lower Mainland locations. We are currently seeking energetic volunteers for the North Shore Steering Committee. Members of the volunteer Steering Committee help with event logistics, supervision of volunteers, and event marketing and promotion as well as helping on event day (Sunday, April 27, 2008). The committee meets once a month in the months leading up to the event and also have one post event meeting. Monthly Meetings will start January, 2008.
The Steering Committee is critical to the success of the Super Cities WALK for MS.

Metro Vancouver is seeking a people person who is passionate about community engagement in our Regional Parks programs. Through the Parks Partnership program, the Community Development Coordinator (CDC) will engage individuals, Park Associations and other community groups to assist in research, education, recreation and stewardship activities that advance the Regional Parks and Greenways Plan. The CDC facilitates and helps to deliver a continuum of community participation including volunteer projects, collaborative projects and partner-directed activities.
We would like to expand our community partnerships and volunteer programs in the region and need a skilled individual who can facilitate group decision making, foster productive group dynamics and attract new partners. As a member of an interdisciplinary team delivering parks services in Regional Parks East Area, this full-time position is based out of Langley, BC. While this office oversees regional parks in the Township of Langley, City of Langley, City of Abbotsford, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, citizens and groups from across the region are involved in partnership activities. This position is part of a region-wide community development team involved in projects across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitates the organization and development of Park Associations and related partnership groups, and provides direction to groups and individuals in organizing, developing and implementing parks programs and plans in support of Metro Vancouver’s Sustainability Framework.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with a wide variety of associations, organizations, groups and individuals to conserve and build social capital in support of Metro Vancouver Regional Parks.
- Assists associations and organizations in developing, coordinating, implementing and maintaining a wide variety of programs; assesses suitability of same to regional parks policy, staff work regimes, and resources required; estimates program costs, recommends cost mitigation initiatives, develops related work plans; prepares funding proposals and applications, administers same and completes reports as required.
- Coordinates the creation and production of educational and public interest material that promotes participation in association and partnership group activities, and increases public awareness of the parks partnership program.
- Develops, recommends and conducts a variety of workshops related to topics such as community engagement and group decision making.
- Prepares a variety of records and reports related to the work.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
- University graduation in Social Sciences and considerable related experience in group and organizational liaison work OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of the social, cultural and recreational needs of the general public related to the work performed.
- Considerable knowledge of the parks partnership program and objectives and policies related to the work performed.
- Sound knowledge of group organizing techniques and the methods and practices of facilitating group decision making.
- Working knowledge of the society’s act of BC related to the work performed.
- Ability to establish and maintain liaison with a variety of organizations, groups and agencies concerned with the social, cultural and recreational needs of the general public as related to the use and operation of regional parks, and to prepare recommendations for new and/or improvements to such services.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of groups and internal and external contacts.
- Ability to assist the public in organizing into park associations, and developing and implementing a variety of parks partnership programs.
- Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records related to the work.
- Required to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Position may require satisfactory clearance obtained through Criminal Records Check.
- Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.
