CelticFest Vancouver 2007

Assistant Volunteer Coordinator

CelticFest is an annual celebration of Celtic culture featuring music, dance, film, spoken word, a street market and the much-anticipated St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Our Volunteer Coordinator is in need of a right hand person that can assist in various tasks related to volunteer coordination and event coordination in general. The festival takes place from March 14th-18th and may be very time consuming during these days.  Ideally, the Assistant would be available for long hours during this period- but we can be flexible depending on availability.  There is also pre-festival planning that may include some evening and daytime hours, but is flexible. Tasks include assistance in contacting, scheduling, and coordinating meetings for volunteers and staff members.  Specifically during the festival- familiarity with the schedules and volunteers, and available to assist in training and managing volunteers.

he Assistant must be: professional, organised, approachable, and reliable.  Must be able to work efficiently in busy scenarios, and to think on their feet. Responsibilities:

  • Approach and contact regional business and organizations for participation in 2007 Comuter Challenger and assist participating organizations with their challenges as needed

  • Organize the following Commuter Challenge events: a Planning Seminar, the Competition, and the Awards Ceremony.
  • Develop and implement an innovative marketing and promotions plan for the Commuter Challenge.

  • Keep up to date with current transportation issues.
  • Produce a complete report of activities and successes for in house use.
  • Produce a complete an attractive final report for promotional use in 2008.

Position: Facility Promotions Manager

We are looking for a dynamic individual to develop relationships with the special events sector, including but not limited to: corporations, meetings and conventions, hotels, event organizers, and wedding planners; and to generate rentals business which will help us reach facility revenue goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement strategies to increase facility rentals and reach revenue goals, in line with organizational objectives.
  • Actively source potential clients through networking, attending meetings, events, promotional opportunities, etc.
  • Develop a database of potential renters.
  • Give facility tours to prospective renters.
  • Work with the Venue Services Coordinator to finalize contract details and quotes.
  • Act as the on-site manager at the beginning of events as required, and ensure that client requirements are met.
